ACTUA SOCCER 3
==============

Intro video
-----------

Celebre info: The intro have been ripped, so you can ignore this.

The Soccer 3 intro video requires the Intel Indeo 5.06 video codec to be
installed on your computer. This is included on the CD, and the option to
install it is given during installation of the game. If you choose not to
install the new codec, you may not be able to play the video.

DirectX and Drivers
-------------------

Celebre info:	The DirectX6 drivers has been ripped so if you have not
yet downloaded them from Microsoft, do so now.

If you experince any problems with the game, then first ensure you are using
the most up to date driver software for your Hardware. If you are unsure
about whether your driver software requires updating then follow these steps:

1: Double click on the 'My Computer' icon on your Windows Desktop
2: Double click on the icon with 'C:' underneath it.
3: Double click on the Folder icon marked 'Program Files'
4: Double click on the Folder icon marked 'DirectX'
5: Double click on the Folder icon marked 'SETUP'
6: Double click on the icon marked DXINFO.

You will now get a window which is split into two parts. Down the right hand
side is a list of your hardware, and the installed driver software. For
Soccer 3 (and other DirectX 6 games) to run correctly, all the drivers must
be of at least version 4.05.xx.xxxx and most probably higher
(for ex 4.38.xx.xxxx).

If you find some of your drivers are not above this version, then you need
to update the driver software installed on your PC. New drivers are available
from the manufacturers of your PC's hardware, and can also usually be
downloaded free from the Internet.

Hardware 3D acceleration
------------------------

Celebre info: The latest reference drivers that was on the CD has been ripped,
so make sure you have the latest drivers from your card
manufacturer in case you encounter problems.

You can also find the web addresses of the manufacturers below.

If you experience any graphical glitches or problems using your 3D card with
Actua Soccer 3, first ensure you have the latest certified drivers for your
hardware, as described in "DirectX and Drivers" above.

The Actua Soccer 3 CD contains the latest reference drivers available at the
time of release for 3Dfx, PowerVR and NVIDIA 3D accelerators. Please note
that you should only install these drivers if you experience problems with
your existing drivers. If possible, you should always use the drivers
supplied by your card manufacturer (OEM) in preference to those supplied on
this CD.

If you have access to the internet, you may be able to obtain even more
recent drivers free from your card manufacturer's website.

3Dfx cards
- For best performance, select "3Dfx Glide" in preference to "D3D" screen
  modes.
- Voodoo Rush based cards: When using software rendering, we recommend you
do not select game modes of a higher resolution than your Windows desktop.

PowerVR cards
- For best performance, select "PowerVR" in preference to "D3D" screen modes.

General notes for Direct3D-compatible cards
- If you encounter any rendering problems, turn off any advanced rendering
options on the display properties applet for your 3D card. Specifically,
options such as "automatic anti-aliasing" and "automatic mip-map
generation" may cause graphical glitches on some hardware.

Speed issues
------------

If the game runs too slowly or jerkily on your machine, try changing the
following options in the AUDIO VISUAL menu:

- Choose a lower resolution screen mode
- Turn off player and stadium lighting (applies to software modes only)
- Turn down player detail settings
- Turn down the shadow detail settings

Additionally, if you are using a 3D accelerator card the following tips may
further improve performance:

- Turn off video screens. On some hardware this will help to give a more
  consistent frame-rate.
- If you notice particular problems in foggy matches, try switching the fog
mode from "VERTEX" to "TABLE" or vice-versa. If this does not solve the
problem, fog can be disabled completely by choosing "OFF".
